Sico, Hoelscher, Harris & Braugh L.L.P. Files First California Bus Accident Lawsuit

Sico, Hoelscher, Harris & Braugh L.L.P. has filed the first lawsuit involving the deadly bush crash just outside of Palm Springs, California. The October 23 crash injured 31 and killed 13, including Gustavo Garcia and Tony Mai. Attorneys David E. Harris and Jane M. Braugh are now representing the families of Mr. Garcia and Mr. Mai, who have been devastated by their sudden loss.

The accident occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 23 on I-10. Both local and federal investigators are looking into the cause of the crash, which involved a head-on collision with a commercial tractor trailer. Investigators have revealed that there were no signs of breaking and there have been some indications that the bus driver may be at fault. The California Highway Patrol is still looking into the incident.

Independent Investigation

Our firm has conducted its own investigation into this matter and spoke with an eye-witness who saw the tractor trailer parked in an active lane on the I-10—without its headlights or hazard lights on—shortly before the crash. The truck had paused due to construction reasons in both the west and eastbound lanes. The witness suspects that during this pause, the trunk driver fell asleep and, after the construction had cleared, was asleep at the time of the collision.

“We are determined to get to the bottom of the cause of this tragic accident, said Attorney Harris. "We owe the families who lost loved ones in this misfortune a complete investigation." Our independent investigation of this incident is ongoing.
