Box truck driver arrested Monday on suspicion of DUI

SHERMAN OAKS, CA, (February 08, 2021) - A fiery collision Monday between an SUV and a box truck tragically took the life of a Ventura man. Authorities identified the victim as 33-year-old Joshua Ajer.

Joshua Ajer sadly lost his life on Monday in a collision with a box truck on the Ventura Freeway. The truck driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a call on the Ventura (101) Freeway where they discovered the victim's SUV partially beneath a Freightliner box truck that was stopped in the No. 4 lane. The SUV caught fire while officers were on the scene.

After extinguishing the flames, CHP determined Mr. Ajer died at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The driver of the truck was identified as 29-year-old Michael Snee of Beverly Hills. He was arrested by officers on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Snee told officers he was stopped on the freeway due to mechanical issues.
